Lightning strikes two houses in Hampshire, 70-year-old woman safe

Thunderstorms and hurricanes lashed parts of England and Wales on Saturday, while thunderstorms damaged homes in Hampshire.

A 70-year-old woman survived and was unharmed after two houses were damaged by a lightning strike in Andover this morning.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for the storm, along side flooding, hail and hurricane-force winds of up to 55 mph. It’s raining after the acute heat. Thunderstorms were forecast for the night in southern England.

It reached South Wales and therefore the Midlands on Saturday morning. Hampshire and therefore the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service have tweeted an image of two semi-detached affected homes.

Risk of thunderstorms developing over eastern and southern England during today. A SEVERE risk has been issued as it’s likely storms could become torrential with high rain rates. High uncertainty for the placing of the MDT zone.
